D#013 Cats lovers paradise: Nekomachi Street & Maneki Cafè
As a good cat lover, I take note of all the places I find during my explorations in Second Life that have to do with these adorable felines. Here are two places that I found and are worth a visit:
- Nekomachi Street
- Maneki Cafè
The list will be updated in case more places are found. Please leave a comment if you already know of others (include a URL if possible!)
NEKOMACHI STREET
Nekomachi Street can be found in Tonarino, a Japanese town (see my post here). To get there, you need to click the cat inside the tunnel near the town's Garage/mechanic.
Nekomachi Street is a - fantasy - representation of what a Japanese town would look if its inhabitants would be cats instead of humans, living their everyday lives just as much as we would do.
Everything takes place along the main road, among the little shops, restaurants, and market stalls that overlook it. Here we have a cat enjoying some sakè sitting outside the liquor shop while watching some other fellow cats drag a cart and dance, and we can see another cat about to enter the crab restaurant next to the sakè shop, whose big sign can hardly go unnoticed.
Next, we have two cat ladies admiring some fabrics displayed behind the window of a kimono shop and a pizza delivery cat trying to keep balanced the stack of pizzas on his right hand while pedaling on his bicycle.
To the left of the pizza delivery cat we can find a fish market stall and a small square with a cinema where, outside of it, some kittens are dancing next to a carousel cart while their mothers are sitting and chatting on an adjacent bench.
To the right, we find some cats performing in a show with umbrellas while some other cats are enjoying a drink and some food in a bar in front of them.
Here is a GIF I tried to take of the performing cats: performing cats
The place is not big but there is so much to see so take your time to fully explore it. If you want to go back to the town of Tonarino, simply click on the cat in the manhole in the alley next to the bar in the corner!
MANEKI CAFE'
Maneki Cafe', as the name says, is a cat cafè located in Kiyori sim from Kiyori Estates, the same owners of Santorini in Greece. Kiyori, for those of you who have not heard about it yet, is an ADULT ONLY region divided into four different districts and each of them corresponds to a specific metro/subway station.
Maneki Cat Café is located outside Azumi Station, in the Luxury Residential area.
Cat cafès are very common in Japan and, generally, all over Asia and it's the perfect place for any cat lovers where they can relax and play with these loving felines while enjoying a good cup of coffee or tea.

Nice post.
ReplyDeleteThe place profile for Maneki Cafè reads 'first cat cafe in sl' however I think many Cat Cafès have come and gone before Maneki opened. Here are three which are definitely still around although I suspect there are many more.

OMG, Thank you so much Annie! I will visit those cafes and update my post here! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks to Annie for mentioning my cafes - yes I opened the first one ... years and years ago. All three have live KittyCats, the Mtensk retreat is the smallest with just 3 cats, the one in Noyo is the original and has two little "books and coffee" cafes, in different styles, next to each other (also there is a cat shrine) - there are 6 kittycats there. A better slurl for that is http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Noyo/177/51/46, I remodelled it recently and the old LM ends up in the back room of one of the cafe/bookshops ;-))) The Shore Thing is on my university's island. The last two in particular have quite a lot of cat ornaments, pictures etc. Because it somehow seems disrespectful to the kittycats I don't have so many static "cats" in the cafes, lol.
