D#001: Soul2Soul Mediterranean (Portofino)



Portofino in Real Life is a small village near the city of Genoa on the North West coast of Italy.It is a famous and very expensive holiday resort known for its pitoresque harbour and its colorful buildings facing the shore.

Minnie Blanco (Minnie Atlass) and her husband Bonnie Blanco got inspired by Portofino in building their sim, Soul2Soul Mediterranean, and the care they put in decorating the sim created something extraordinary there.

I remember I had a friend telling me about this place a few months ago and, when I came back to SL after a break, I decided I had to find this place and see with my own eyes if it was really as beautiful as it was described to me. 

After struggling for a while to find it (you do not find the sim by looking for Portofino in the search panel), I found a post on Facebook talking about this sim and, needless to say, I immediately tped myself over. 


Upon landing, I found myself in the small square in front of the marina. My jaw dropped open at the view of the harbour and the buildings which are exactly what you would see on your arrival in Portofino in Real Life. 

I took my time exploring the area and the small - but lovely - cafès, enjoying the view and the sound of the seagulls and the waves hitting the sides of the small wooden boats and the pebble beach. 



From the landing point, a small staircase leads you to a beautiful cathedral - unfortunately only a decoration - and another staircase next to it brings you to one of the residential areas of the sim. Yes, Soul2Soul Mediterranean also offers beautiful villas and houses for rent, different sizes and prims allowance.






The sim really deserves a visit. Alone, or with your loved one(s), take some time to explore this beautiful place.

 2023 has just started and winter is at its peak.  One thing I love to do in SL during this time of the year is going around and visiting sims that have a wintery-kinda atmosphere, where snow plays a major role. What follows is my review of the sim Winterset Hollow I visited a few days ago and I found it absolutely incredible and very cold. ⛇ Make yourself a cup of tea or hot cocoa, grab a blanket, and hope you will enjoy the reading! đź’— Winterset Hollow is a Swedish-inspired winter village created by Tolla Crisp and Terry Fotherington, owners of Frogmore.  The landing point is located at the beginning of what we can call the "main street" of the village, which most of the commercial activities of the place overlook. Here you can find a lovely bakery, a post office, a small grocery shop, little stands selling gluhwein (mulled wine), hot cocoa & marshmallows, a tailoring workshop, and a few, cozy cafes. D#014 The Dive Shop

Summer is at its peak, sunny, hot, muggy at all hours, day and night.  There is a need for fresh waters, the sea is on a calling... and the mermaid in me had to answer! So here I am, exploring the many underwater worlds SecondLife offers to its residents. Today, I will tell you about The Dive Shop, a place that really struck me for the beauty of its many underwater environments and the care with which they were made.  From the destination guide: "The most realistic underwater environment and scuba simulation in Second Life; home to RL PADI diver training". That The Dive Shop is the most realistic underwater environment in Second Life, I personally agree. D#016 Northern Shore (Sweden)

Välkommen til Sverige! Today I am visiting Northern Shore, part of White Dunes Estate, a group of rental sims owned by Elvira Kytori. I am a huge lover of Scandinavian countries in real life and, as soon as I heard there was a Swedish-looking sim on SL, I decided I had to visit it. Northern Shore is the representation of a typical fishing village like those that can be found along the coast of Sweden and the many little islands of its archipelagos.  The landing point is at the sim's harbor, with the port spread over two islands and the waters in between the reign of the many seagulls and other seabirds living in the area.  Here, we can find a small grocery shop next to the shipyard where a boat is apparently under construction (or being demolished?). Next to it, a very picturesque fresh seafood market offers visitors a rustic resting point - and a nice view over the opposite side of the harbor.  By the way...
